Crude Oil Is Rising: When Technicals Take a Back Seat to Fundamental News and What to Watch Wednesday

by | Oct 2, 2024

First a quick tip…

If you wake up and you’re not feeling yourself… maybe you’re sick or have a headache… your best bet is to trade low-beta stocks that aren’t going to make wild swings. A low-beta stock is stuff like AT&T (T).  You can also search for stocks with a low average true range.

The point is, don’t always think you have to be a hero and swing for the fences.

As far as today, we have Fed speakers all day and Treasury Buyback Results, which could provide some volatility at 2 p.m. ET.

Crude oil is on the rise with everything going on in the Middle East, and pending fundamental news like this always overrides technical price action.

Here’s something to keep in mind: We have a huge amount of resistance above us. But that almost doesn’t matter when the fundamental news changes.

And if things continue to escalate, oil prices will go up, no matter what the technicals are telling us. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to go long on all energy stocks…

I’ll cover all that, my daily hitlist of longs and shorts and more in this morning’s “Premarket Must Watch” video!
