Don’t look now, but earnings season… is… BACK!

That’s right, starting next week, we’ll have the first reports for the third quarter of 2024…
We’ll see PepsiCo (PEP) on Tuesday, Tilray (TLRY) kicking things off for the pot stocks on Thursday along with Delta (DAL) and Dominoes (DPZ), and then the big banks on Friday with the likes of JPMorgan (JPM), Wells Fargo (WFC) and more on Friday!
So what have we seen so far in the options flow?
We saw an awfully long-dated play in DAL hit this week, dating way out to March 2025 expiration with a fairly small bullish bet (about $104K) in the $57.50 strike… which is over $8 out of the money at this point.
But we don’t like trading stuff that far out around here…
If you’re feeling bullish for DAL, then we’d look for something expiring the next couple of weeks, maybe into the November monthly expiration, and a strike closer to the money and firmly inside the Market Maker Move.
We also saw a really big order in the CVS (CVS) November $70 calls with shares bouncing nearly 4% soon after the open today. This play captures the company’s earnings date on Nov. 3.
And finally, we saw another earnings bet, this time in one of the casino stocks… and you probably know by now… we love casinos and casino stocks around here!
This play is in the Las Vegas Sands (LVS) Oct. 25, $56 strike calls. These are a few bucks out of the money but just inside the Market Maker Move.
Do with that information what you so long as you promise to respect the risk involved…
