Markets are relatively flat to kick off the final day of the week’s trading, and volatility remains low while the bond market (TLT) is back down into its range after breaking out Thursday.
Momentum levels are again getting toppy, and while we may remain at elevated levels for a bit, there’s no real catalyst to drive things higher.
And when things get this overdone, there’s generally a cooling off period. We are clearly in a situation right now where a concentrated number of large-cap stocks are dominating the market and holding things up at the expense of other stocks.
There are only 66 stocks in the entire S&P 500 that are trading above their 50-day moving averages, and just 73 are above their 200-day MA.
So now is a time for major caution!
