Home Depot Pops, 4 Fed Speakers on Deck and 1 Sector on the Brink After a Downgrade

by | May 20, 2025

>>>Time decay is killing your options trades, but there’s a better way — and I’ll be with Jeffry today when he reveals it all at 1 PM ET!<<<

Stocks are relatively flat ahead of the open, with Home Depot (HD) reporting a strong forecast and numbers for the year ahead while the market awaits several Fed speakers.

In all, four members of the Fed will speak today beginning at 9 a.m. ET and ending at 5 p.m. ET.

A downgrade on KLA Corp. (KLAC) is likely to affect chip stocks, and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) is down about 0.3% an hour before the open.

Keep an eye on chip stocks once the market opens because a downgrade of a big chip stock like this could sink the sector (and tech) today — KLAC makes up about 5% of this fund.

I like what I’m seeing with gold right now, and it’s a great time to start nibbling on a starter position but I wouldn’t go all in until it gets above $3,300.

The bond market (TLT) is largely flat and the U.S. dollar is moving lower again. It’s just above par (1.00) but falling, so things aren’t looking good here…

I’ll cover all that, my daily hitlist of longs and shorts and more in this morning’s “Premarket Must Watch” video!

P.S. Time Decay Is Killing Your Options Trades — but There’s a Better Way

Most people believe there are only a couple of ways to generate big returns in the market: by taking on more risk or waiting a long time.

But those people are wrong because there’s a third way…

And I’m joining the brilliant Jeffry Turnmire at 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday to see how he’s seeing options-like moves buying certain “Supercharged” tickers — without the options!
