I’ll show you how to target what could be your next $1K day trade, and give everyone access to my personal day trading software, the next 1,000 trade signals and more [tap to join us]!
Here’s the thing most day traders get wrong — they think it’s all or nothing. You’re either completely in the trade or you’re out.
But that’s not how I play it. I use a three-contract system that lets me take profits at different levels while keeping some skin in the game for bigger moves. When conditions line up, I’ll hold one contract overnight to capture additional upside.
Let me break down exactly how this works because it’s one of the most powerful position management strategies I use.
The 3-Contract Profit System
When I enter a position, I’m buying three contracts that can easily scale bigger if I want more expsoure. Why three? Because it aligns with my profit targets: 25%, 50% and 100%.
The first contract comes off at 25% — that’s my initial profit lock. The second comes off at 50% — now I’ve reduced my exposure and banked more gains. The third is my runner, and I’m targeting 100% or more.
This approach changes the psychology of trading. You’re not sweating every tick because you’ve already taken profits along the way and reduced your exposure. The pressure is lower, and that third contract can run without you second-guessing every move.
That’s the value of a streamlined process. Trading doesn’t need to feel complicated when the entry, targets and risk are defined in advance. A simple plan reduces emotional decisions and makes it easier to act consistently.
And again, the same framework can scale with position size, though larger positions also mean greater risk.
How MI6 Helps Me Manage the Trade
I’m selective about carrying that third contract overnight. I want the trend — shown in my MI6 software — to remain intact, price action to support the setup and no obvious technical breakdown into the close.
I also consider expiration, time decay and whether a scheduled economic release could create an unfavorable gap.
Early in the week — Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday — I’m more willing to hold when those conditions line up. That’s what I did with my iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF (TLT) calls this week. I took profits on two contracts and held one overnight, which reached about 70% by the next day.
By Thursday or Friday, I’m usually closing everything or rolling to the following week’s expiration. Weekend risk and short-dated time decay can change the trade quickly.
MI6 supports both sides of this process — I’ll be on at 2 p.m. ET today to show it off!
It helps me identify potential entries, follow price action and monitor the trade as it approaches my predetermined profit levels. Just as importantly, MI6 helps me recognize when a target has been reached or the setup is weakening, so I can manage exits according to the plan instead of reacting emotionally.
Entry is only half the battle. Knowing when to take profits is what separates consistent traders from those who give gains back. This system, combined with MI6, helps me lock in profits, reduce stress and preserve exposure to extended moves.
I’ll see you at 2 o’clock!
Order Flow:

When you look at these plays, always take the market maker move into consideration.
You can be right on the direction but still lose money if the stock doesn’t move enough. That’s where the market maker move comes in clutch.
With puts, they’re often downside hedges in case a stock tanks, especially around earnings. The further out of the money they are, the more likely they are to be hedges.
Also be sure and check when the company’s earnings date is because many of the plays we post here are centered around earnings!
If a stock is really expensive, consider a spread to lower the cost.
And finally, always remember the golden rule when it comes to buying calls: Buy dips, sell rips — and don’t chase!
If a stock’s moved a ton already today, maybe wait for a pullback.

Note: If no date is listed after the month, it’s the monthly expiration (third Friday).
