Let’s chat about what’s hitting before today’s live trading session, particularly, a couple of earnings plays slated for Tuesday morning…
In fact, we covered one of these stocks on Friday after it saw both long and short bets ahead of this week’s earnings: Carnival Cruise Line (CCL).
Carnival was up about 2% on the open before taking about a 3% dive, falling as much as -0.8%. A bullish trader seized on the dip to drop about $187K on the April 5 expiration, $17 strike calls with shares trading a few cents over $17.
CCL reports before the open Wednesday, and market makers expect a move higher or lower of $1.47. Remember from Friday, we also saw April 5, $16.50 puts.
One of those orders is likely going to $0 following that report so as always, respect that risk!
We also caught a bullish order late Monday in Paychex (PAYX) that we added below. PAYX is trading right around $119.35 at lunchtime on the East Coast Tuesday, and the company reports before the open Wednesday along with CCL.
Market makers expect a move of $5.71 so these are definitely in play, and a little longer dated if wrong to give some recovery time.
Finally, we threw a million-dollar order in Pinterest (PINS) in there for good measure. It doesn’t expire until June 2025 so it’s a LONG-term play — way too long for my taste but to each his or her own.
