One key to my success is going deep into a subject — it’s also sometimes my downfall!
For example, this time last year, I had a good understanding of the official Santa Claus rally and what it could mean for the future…
According to Yale Hirsch, who first defined the Santa Claus rally in the 1972 “Stock Trader’s Almanac,” it kicks off this year on Dec. 29 to Jan. 3!
It applies to the Dow 30, though most headlines I read apply it broadly. Don’t trust me… check it out for yourself.
While a variety of analysis over various time frames can be helpful, I didn’t see one headline last year outside of Jeff Hirsch — Yale’s son — and their Stock Traders’ Almanac proclaiming the setup and ramifications of the Santa rally on the Dow 30.
Yet, it was this parameter correctly applied, combined with a few others, that had me shouting “BUY!!!” from on the rooftops in January 2023.
I’ll be paying attention this year, too. Though, I gotta warn ya, it’s not very exciting (see the box on the chart below)…
