The major indexes are up as Wall Street anticipates key inflation data this week — and more in Monday’s stock market recap.
We have the Consumer Price Index report on Tuesday, the Producer Price Index on Wednesday, and jobless claims, import and export prices, industrial production and retail sales data on Thursday.
The most important reports will be CPI and PPI, which will tell us and the Federal Reserve if inflationary pressure is easing. These numbers will also influence what the Fed does next, with most expecting another 0.75% rate hike this month.
For the CPI report, I’m not as concerned with the month-over-month results as I am with the year-over-year numbers, especially YOY CPI excluding food and energy prices.
The consensus range is between 5.8% and 6.2%, but we want to see that number come in below 5.9%, which was the previous figure.
In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss the biggest reports of the week and what to expect… why watching the long bond is crucial… key levels on S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow… which three sectors offer the least vulnerability… why global market recovery is key right now… whether market momentum levels are increasing or decreasing… plus how to position yourself for realistic moves.

P.S. Are You Prepared for Sept. 20?
There’s a straightforward way I analyze the market that often leads me to the biggest moves in the investment world before they happen.
And there’s no funny business required with the strategy I’ll share in a special live event — at no cost!
It’s based on an age-old secret that Vanguard’s John Bogle calls “the most important rule for investors to learn.”
And without understanding this basic principle, trading will only get more challenging.
All you need to do is cut out all the noise in the market, forget about all 4,000 stocks and focus on 11 sectors…
The time to prepare your portfolio is now.
P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.
That’s why I want you to get my latest trading ideas and market updates as fast as possible. So I’m rolling out an all-new option for my students to receive trade alerts with Telegram!
