The market sold off hard on Tuesday following the latest inflation data, but things are looking up Tuesday — so are we pulling back or breaking down?
I’ve been discussing why I think the bond market (TLT) is breaking down. It was up significantly this morning, which tells us the Federal Reserve has no business even discussing lowering rates at this point.
Which is of course why the market sold off so hard Tuesday — on fears that we won’t get a rate cut as soon as May, which seems more unlikely now.
The problem with whether we’re just pulling back or if Tuesday was the beginning of a breakdown is we just don’t know yet…
While things look bullish again this morning, after the market sold off on the Consumer Price Index, it rallied after that but then fell again soon after.
A lot of folks got taken to the cleaners on this fake out, so be cautious!
The critical level we need to watch is Tuesday’s open. If we don’t take it out, we could be in deep trouble.
