Tesla’s blasting off, as were GameStop calls this morning, up 45% in just 5 minutes after hitting the News Flow Scanner — what a way to start the week!
But while many stocks are taking off, it’s actually the puts that are catching my attention now…
Not to be all “doomsday,” but for me, I’d rather play the odd stocks and be hedged and nimble using proper risk versus reward, especially amid earnings…
We saw a pretty big order in Penn Gaming (PENN) July monthly expiration, $20.50 strike puts with shares falling as much as 4.5% today before rallying a bit off the lows. I snagged some puts in the July 26 expiration and bagged a quick 37%…
We also saw a BIG $3.4 million short bet in Amazon (AMZN) with shares dipping 1.8% this morning (the order is below).
And for earnings, we saw some put buying in homebuilders like D.R. Horton (DHI) and PulteGroup (PHM). The market may be pretty exciting right now with stocks moving again, but I do think it’s time to start looking at puts again, especially when it comes to some lotto tickets for earnings.

Once again, the Stock Market Super Bowl is upon us…
And a group of well-known tickers are set to release earnings… with NFLX being first on deck.
The stock is currently hovering around an all-time high at $685…
Over the last few days, we’ve seen the stock flash inside my scanner…
This is likely because of its upcoming earnings announcement…
Many are already forecasting booming earnings results…
Barron’s was the most notable, stating the stock could soar following its July 18 announcement.
Obviously, anything can happen…
But historically, NFLX has offered some of the biggest overnight moves following its earnings dates…
That’s why we’ll be using the scanner to look for clues.
