From Zero to Hero: A Beginner’s Guide to Placing the Best Options Trades

by | Jul 10, 2024

We’re continuing our educational series today with something that’s about as basic as you can get — but something I get a lot of questions about!

So this video explains how to place basic call and put options trades!

I also explain some basic terminology and things you need to know and consider before placing your trade. That way, you can give yourself the best chance to succeed.

We’ll use the Thinkorswim trading platform for this lesson, but the terminology will be mostly the same across all platforms.

Highlights:

📈 Call Options: Buying a call option means you expect the stock price to go higher.

📉 Put Options: Buying a put option means you expect the stock price to go lower.

📊 Liquidity: Look for options with high volume and a tight bid-ask spread for better liquidity.

💰 Risk Management: Start small and gradually increase your position size as you become more comfortable.
